PD253B - The Big Boy Home Dehumidifier - Surprisingly Little Clearance to the Unit Is Required

Pros: largest tank capacity that I could find for a home dehumidifier
Pros: comes with a 6 ft drainage hose (whereas dehumidifiers generally come with a 3-4 ft hose max.)
Pros: only requires a 7.9" (20 cm) clearance from objects and walls (my last humidifier required a 3 ft (1 metre) clearance from all walls and objects)
Pros: on the regular or low dehumification mode, it is relatively quiet
Pros: sleek modern design - the unit is slimmer and taller than most dehumidifiers - square in shape and not built like a small freezer appliance

Cons: the electrical power cord is less than 3ft long. Many flood prone basements do not have electrical outlets at the baseboards, particularly in furnace and utility rooms. The dehumidifier cord is barely long enough to reach the outlet in my house and that also means that the unit is where it has to be to operate (sticks out) and it is not where I want it to be.
Cons: maintenance requirements to clean the filter once every two weeks
Cons: the digital display is ridiculously large - you could probably see the humidity levels in my basement from space.
Cons: unit was sold in Canada and there is not a stich of French in the User Manual. Just a matter of time before the Language Police fine Waykar and the fines get very steep. Do what Winners (Jr. Department Store): slap a French translation sicker on the back of the Manual and call it a day.

Love this dehumidifier! Does an amazing job at getting moisture out of the air. The dehumidifier is not big and bulky. I would recommend this product. They also have amazing customer service!

I have a two bedroom/1 bath apartment on the Peninsula of WA state. As of recent, the inside humidity has been unpleasant. To create a pleasant living environment, I decided to buy a dehumidifier to see if it would help. As such, I came across the Waykar 1750 Sq. Ft Dehumidifier, and between item description and reviews, I chose to purchase this particular dehumidifier. Wow! What a difference.In only six hours, the dehumidifier needed to be emptied. I could not believe it had captured 34 pints of moisture (water) from the air in such a short period (low speed). The air in my apartment went from a sticky wet to a pleasant atmosphere quality that is pleasantly bearable.The dehumidifier is sleek and affective. Money worth spent. .
