I find the auto mode annoying due to it almost constantly running the fan regardless of the humidity, but overall it is more quiet than my last dehumidifier and it does drop the humidity well. I wish it allowed larger tolerances before turning back on.
This unit is much quieter than our last unit, about the sound of a fan running. It runs without making heat, our last one super heated the area. Emptying the tank is very easy. I am using it in my basement and it is full morning and evening. The digital controls are easy to use. It is making a big difference, glad I bought it!
This dehumidifier is powerful enough to dry my whole 1000 square foot house in a coastal environment, and is still quiet enough that I can have it running during the day when I'm home. A lot of other dehumidifiers get so loud that I can't keep them on. Waykar consistently makes quality dehumidifiers.
Worked great right out of the box. Finally have a dehumidifier quiet enough to talk on the phone while sitting next to it !!
I don't have central A/C, so the house gets pretty humid in summer. I got this unit to serve as a backup for my existing 50-quart unit. It's been a great buy: It keeps two large closets dry, stopping the mildew problem I've had for years. The controls are easy to use, and it has features my other one doesn't, like a timer. It's easy to move to where it's needed with the fold-down handle, and it's Energy Star-rated. It's also very quiet. It does run slightly warm, but not super hot. I don't know if it could really handle 1500 square feet, but it's a good defense against humidity and is making my summer more comfortable.
